Support for Bulgarian Olympic Teams in Natural Sciences

American Foundation for Bulgaria finances the preparation for and participation in international competitions of the Bulgarian Olympic teams in mathematics, informatics, physics, biology, chemistry, linguistics, astronomy, as well as the team of the young physicists.

The program started in 2004 with the financing of the mathematics and informatics teams. At the International Mathematical Olympiad in Greece the team won 3 gold and 3 silver medals. At the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in Pleven they won 3 gold, 2 silver and one bronze medal.

In 2005 the program expanded, and, apart from the mathematics and informatics teams, AFB began supporting all other science teams. The same year these teams won 7 gold, 12 silver, and 12 bronze medals.

At the numerous international competitions in 2006, the Bulgarian teams won 6 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

The Olympiads in 2007 brought 7 gold, 13 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
